Glossary term
Also known as Complete blood count - FBC
The blood-cell screen - catches anemia, infection, and early iron or hematologic issues.
The complete blood count measures hemoglobin, hematocrit, RBC count, WBC count with five-cell differential, platelets, and cell-size indices (MCV, MCH, RDW). It's the baseline screen for anemia, iron-deficiency without frank anemia (elevated RDW + low MCV), infection (WBC shifts), and clotting risk (platelets). Hematocrit above 54% is a TRT red flag that triggers dose reduction or a phlebotomy. CBC pairs with ferritin for iron workups and with CMP for the full baseline labs package. Included in both the Basic and Advanced panels.
