Also known as Platelet-rich plasma
Platelet-rich plasma. Autologous blood concentrate injected into tendons, joints, or scalp.
Platelet-rich plasma is prepared by centrifuging a patient's own blood to concentrate platelets 3-7x baseline, then injecting the resulting plasma into the target tissue. The evidence base is strongest for knee osteoarthritis, rotator-cuff tendinopathy, and androgenetic alopecia. Response is mechanical and regenerative, not pharmacologic. PRP is out-of-pocket in most cases and is offered as a clinic-based procedure rather than a home protocol.
