Glossary term
Also known as Comprehensive metabolic panel
14 markers covering kidney, liver, and electrolytes. Required before any Rx - and nowhere near enough on its own.
The comprehensive metabolic panel runs fasting glucose, BUN, creatinine, eGFR, sodium, potassium, chloride, CO2, calcium, total protein, albumin, total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, AST, and ALT. It's the safety screen required before GLP-1, metformin, TRT, or HRT. What CMP misses: A1c, fasting insulin, ApoB, full lipid panel, thyroid, sex hormones, ferritin, vitamin D, hs-CRP - every marker that actually predicts metabolic and cardiovascular outcomes. A clean CMP is not a clean bill of health. Pair with Advanced panel markers for the real picture.
