Also known as MTC - Medullary carcinoma of the thyroid
A rare thyroid cancer. Personal or family history is an absolute contraindication for GLP-1 therapy.
Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) arises from parafollicular C cells and accounts for 1-2% of thyroid cancers. MTC is the key exclusion on all GLP-1 labels due to animal-model thyroid C-cell tumors, and it pairs with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2) in hereditary cases. Any personal or first-degree-relative history disqualifies GLP-1 therapy - no exceptions at ALUKARD. The intake explicitly asks this question before labs or review.
