Glossary term
Also known as High-sensitivity C-reactive protein
High-sensitivity inflammation marker. Under 1.0 mg/L is low risk, over 3.0 mg/L flags a workup.
High-sensitivity C-reactive protein picks up low-grade systemic inflammation that standard CRP can't resolve. AHA cardiovascular risk buckets: under 1.0 mg/L is low, 1.0-3.0 mg/L is average, above 3.0 mg/L is high. Transient spikes happen with infection or injury, so one elevated read warrants a repeat in two weeks. Persistent elevation above 3.0 mg/L drives additional cardiovascular and metabolic workup - often fatty liver, insulin resistance, or autoimmune patterns. Included on the Advanced panel alongside ApoB, HbA1c, and fasting insulin.
