Glossary term
Also known as Magnesium bisglycinate
Chelated magnesium form with high bioavailability and low GI side effects, favored for sleep and HRV support.
Magnesium glycinate is elemental magnesium bound to two glycine molecules, producing a chelated form that absorbs well and tolerates at doses that would create GI urgency on magnesium oxide or citrate. Roughly 50% of US adults fall below the EAR for magnesium, but serum misses most of the deficit - RBC magnesium or an intracellular marker is the right test. Evidence-based use: sleep quality, HRV support, and nocturnal muscle-cramp cases in deficient subjects at 300-400 mg elemental nightly.
